NaNoWriMo: Rebellion Year

I have, ridiculously, decided to go for NaNoWriMo again. This year, however, is a rebellion year.

That’s right; I am casting off the traditions and embracing another path! One that hopefully ends with a solid 2nd full draft of my NaNo project from two years ago. I was stalling on the second chapter of the draft, so NaNo writing is picking up from there. Sometimes you just need the little bit of extra motivation.

It’s working to an extent. I finally figured out how to start the chapter 🙂

End of NaNo, or What Happens When the Project Fails

Been quiet for a while because of NaNo and real life stuff that’s been going on. Most recently on the RL front, it’s been a nasty cold/crud/infection that’s hit the whole house.

Which is why I’m hanging up the NaNo hat. I’m 14K behind with a little over a week to go. I technically could do it if I pushed hard to the exclusion of all else, but with how sick I’ve been and still am, plus the fact I haven’t been able to play with my little one all that much (who’s two, so doesn’t understand “Mommy’s working” yet), I’m not willing to push myself to further exhaustion.

Doesn’t mean I’m going to stop work on the project; it just means that I’m going to tackle it at a pace and organizational level that I prefer.

Saturday Music: Tell Me Lies (and a NaNo Update)

Week 1 of NaNo is wrapping up and I’m 5K words behind. Discovering I’m not really digging this project and I’m trying to figure out why. Maybe I’m taking the wrong direction with it. Hopefully it’ll connect for me soon.

For today’s music, this song kind of encapsulates the MMC’s thoughts on trying to enter a relationship with the FMC. Given he thinks it’s impossible since he’s a complete social pariah, it’s rather understandable I think.

Why NaNoWriMo?

So NaNo is upon us! I have a new plot and characters and world to explore. And it will be awesome!

So why do I do NaNo? What makes this different from the rest of the year?
